InWEnt it@ab Newsletter Dezember 2003

Dear Members of the it@ab Network!

With this Newsletter we intend on one side to follow up the Dar es Salaam Workshop, on the other side we would like to give status information on the it@ab Upgrade Programme which is currently carried out in Germany with 17 Junior Consultants from 7 SADC countries. And we would like to give first information on the plans for the next it@ab Senior Management Workshop.


1. Dar es Salaam Workshop, November 3rd – 11th 2003: Results are now available on CLE

First of all InWEnt would like to thank all the participants and especially the organizers of the workshop for the committed and fruitful work before, during and after the workshop.

2. CLE - The it@ab Senior Management Communication and Collaboration Platform

Apart from all the documents regarding the Dar es Salaam Workshop CLE is now available for Senior Managers of participating organizations – this is your group, simply called “it@ab Partners”. This workspace can be used for uploading and downloading documents. A discussion forum and a chat room have been opened. Visit:

3. ITAB Ltd. founded

Since finalizing the workshop a new company has been established under the umbrella of the it@ab network and registered in Dar Es Salaam. Aim and purpose of the company is to stimulate and conduct cross boarder business activities.

4. it@ab upgrade – 17 Trainees currently in Saarbruecken, Germany

During their language course in Saarbruecken the Junior Consultants participated on December, 12th and 13th 2003 in a two day Initial Workshop and received comprehensive information concerning the concept, the programme and the process of the it@ab upgrade program “Business related IT-Consultancy”.

The trainers Ralph Barthel and Rainer K. Kasemir from 21 LearnLine AG
put an additional focus on the process of team building within the group. For stressing the importance of teamworking and efficient communication processes a number of experience-oriented exercises have been conducted.

The Initial Workshop offered information about

· The role of 21 LearnLine as service provider for InWEnt
· The key persons - project managers, coaches and trainers -, that frequently will be in contact with the participants
· The methodology, the curriculum and the contents of the programme
· Expectations of the different stakeholders (Senior Managers from the participating it@ab organizations, InWEnt, 21 LearnLine AG) towards the Juniors. The 17 Junior Consultants signed therefore Learning Agreements.
· The conduction und coaching of the eBusiness projects
· Freiburg as place of event of the three month lasting presential training from March through May 2004. The city of Freiburg has been introduced as well as the Goethe-House, in which the participants will be accommodated.

5. it@ab Network opportunity: INFODEV WORLD BANK PROJECT -Incubator Initiative

6. it@ab Workshop in March 2004

InWEnt is planning the next it@ab Workshop in the SADC region from March 2st – March 6th, 2004. The topic will be “Interregional Cooperation”. You will find all the information for registration and hosting proposual on CLE. Please check out:

In order to prepare the workshop it would be very helpful to have your feedback and your recommendations as soon as possible. Senior managers of the it@ab network who want to participate on the workshop are requested to fill in the registration form and send it back via Email not later than January, 25th 2004.
